Port Gdańsk supports team from Nowy Port

New Port is a beautiful neighborhood we feel part of. We want to be closer to the people and support their initiatives. We were wondering how we could get into the life of the district and then we found out about the Porter. The club was built thanks to residents and residents, and all thanks to a group of enthusiasts who devotes all their free time to it. At this point, we focused on the support of the coaching team, because they are the biggest responsibility. We also bought the necessary equipment and clothes for children – says Anna Drozd – the press spokesman for the Port of Gdańsk.

Airport Gdańsk is a football club from Nowy Port with a long tradition dating back to 1957. There are currently football trainings for children from the 2010-2016 yearbooks. The club's creators say of a person that it's "A small club with a body but a great spirit."

– Sport shapes character and affects our health so needed at this difficult time. We want this help to be long-term, so that the club can grow, and children after school classes have an alternative to spending time outdoors. We would like this initiative to be the beginning of our support for the district where the heart of the port beats

– said Piotr Bura – Director of Marketing and Communications at Port Gdańsk.

Currently, the new season is being recruited in Portowc. Training is for children of age

4-10 years of both girls and boys. A total of about 60 children. In the future, this number is expected to double. Training takes place 3 times a week at the stadium at the New Port School Complex.

– In 2008, I began to think about creating a football school, and after Dark Voice's invocations in 2009, the Porter club was reactivated. We've started recruiting kids for school. Their numbers have exceeded our expectations. We started working with juniors, at the same time we created a senior team that under Dark's leadership with momentum advanced to the upper league. The club began to grow and our juniors even advanced to the provincial league and when it seemed that we could further develop, lack of sponsor and other decisions led to the crisis. In order to avoid the collapse of a club where we put many hearts into reactivation, I started talking to people who could replace us and lead the club. There were no willing ones, but luckily David the Hungry came along and we decided to rebuild the good brand of the Porter. We just needed a stable partner. In fact, Port Gdańsk spoke to us in parallel, offering cooperation – says Jacek Malko – the creator and coach of Portowc.

– I am glad that history has rolled the wheel and like years ago, Portowiec and Port Gdańsk become one family again. I believed and hoped from the beginning when in 2009, together with some of the fans, we reactivated the club after 40 years. This is extremely important not only from the sporting aspect, but for me as a representative of the inhabitants from the social aspect. Sport is one of the best tools that integrates residents of all ages. It gives youth occupation, teaches competition, brotherhood, and is an alternative to spending time with peers on the field. I'm glad Port noticed this potential. Today, young people already train with the logo of the Port of Gdańsk in their outfits. Both Port and Port have anchors in their coat of arms and logo. I believe that they will be inseparable and a new great story is being written – comments Łukasz Hamadyk – Chairman of the New Port District Board.
