Port Gdańsk transhipped 41.7 million tons of cargo in the first half of 2026, 9% more than the year before. The biggest increase was made by small quantities, containers and coal.

Fuels still the largest group of loads

Liquid fuels accounted for 45 percent of all transhipments in the Port of Gdańsk. Over six months, 18.8 million tonnes were handled, or 2% less than in the same period last year.

More coal and wood

Coal handling has increased markedly. In the first six months of the year they reached 4.3 million tonnes, 51% more than a year ago. The port board is responsible for this result, among other things, for greater demand after severe winter.

The greatest dynamics was recorded for wood. His transhipments increased by 178%, but it was still a small group of loads – In total 81,000 tonnes were served.

The port also overloaded 1.8 million tonnes of other bulk cargo, nearly 1.3 million tonnes of cereals and 173 000 tonnes of ore. Compared to the first half of 2025, grain handling increased by 13 percent and ore by 7%.

In the first six months, 2193 ships went to the Port of Gdańsk, 6% more than a year earlier. This number included 1793 merchant ships.

Port hopes for another record
