Port Miami with a daily passenger record

Port Miami set a new record for the daily number of passengers served, starting the winter season 2025/2026 at the peak point of global cruise shipping. The result confirms the continuing high market dynamics and Miami's position as one of the key passenger ports in the world.

When the winter season in Europe means a clear limitation of traffic in passenger shipping, in the south of the United States it is the peak of the season. On November 30, the Miami port served a total of 75 201 passengers in one day, taking into account both start-ups and end-of-ships, setting a third record in 2025 and the best score in port history.

On 30 November, a total of 75 201 passengers were served by the Port of Miami in one day, taking into account both start-ups and end-users voyage. This is the third record established by the port in 2025 and the best score in its history.

This day was at the beginning of the winter season, which traditionally represents the most intense period in the operation of ports serving cruise shipping in the Caribbean. At the same time, ten large passenger ships were docked in the port, the total number of passengers exceeding 35 000 with standard double cabins.

On a record day in Miami port operating, among others. Carnival Celebration, Symphony of the Seas, Carnival Horizon, Celebrity Beyond and Norwegian Aqua. The port authorities stress that they were not the largest possible passenger capacity, which shows further growth potential for the current infrastructure.

The port points out that similar results have already been recorded in the previous winter season. In March and April, the previous daily passenger records fell, but the end of November result clearly surpassed them.

Infrastructure drives further growth

One of the key elements enabling further expansion of the port of Miami was the launch of the new AA terminal in spring, intended mainly for the operation of the ships of the shipowner MSC Cruises. It was there that one of the world's largest cruise ships began operating – MSC World America with a capacity of 215 863 GT.

In parallel, work is underway on another new terminal to replace existing infrastructure at the western edge of Dodge Island. These investments have secure port operating capacity for the following years of intense market growth.

New vessels and new operators

In the season 2025/2026, the port of Miami will enrich by ten consecutive cruise units. For the first time, Miami's home port will operate Queen Elizabeth belonging to the Cunard Line and Zuiderdam shipowner Holland America Line. In subsequent years they will also join Eurodam and Silver Nova.

Among the new units based in Miami are also Brilliant Lady from Virgin Voyager and Allura the owner of Oceania Cruises. In March 2026 he will join the fleet Norwegian Luna, new Norwegian Cruise Line unit.

Port Miami in the shadow of Port Canaveral

In the financial year, the port recorded a 4% increase in passenger numbers, serving a record of 8.56 million passengers. The previous year’s figure stood at 8.2 million, representing an almost 13% year-on-year increase.

However, for the second time in the history of cruise voyages, Port Miami stepped down in terms of the total number of Port Canaveral passengers, which served over 8.6 million people. Equally dynamic growth is recorded by other U.S. base ports, including Port Everglades and Galveston, Texas.

Caribbean main direction

The Caribbean remains a leading travel destination, and its continued popularity, combined with sustained infrastructure investments, indicates that the Port of Miami will remain one of the pillars of the global cruise market in the coming years.
