– We're proud that PGZ Stocznia Wojenna carried out a project to restore the former glow of "ORP Lightning". The legendary ship returns to its place, and residents of Gdynia can once again admire the oldest surviving destroyer in the world – said Paweł Lulewicz, President of the Management Board of the Polish Naval Shipyard

Launched in 1936 at the British shipyard J. Samuel White in Cowes, ORP "The Lightning" is the oldest surviving destroyer in the world. In 1937 he began his service in the Navy, taking part, among others, in the Battle of the Atlantic and Operation "Overlord". The ship has been a representative unit since 1976.
