Is Iran responsible for the explosion on an Israeli company ship?

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanjahu stated on Monday that Iran was responsible for the Friday explosion on an Israeli company ship passing through the Gulf of Oman.

‘It is clear. It was an Iranian operation," stated the head of government on Kan radio. When asked if Israel would respond to this attack, Netanyahu repeated his previous statement of determination to prevent Iran from developing nuclear potential. "We hit it (in Iran) across the region," he announced.

Iranian authorities So far, they have not commented on the Friday incident and have not responded to the Israeli allegations that Tehran is responsible for the ship's explosion.

A radio interview with Netanyahu aired on Monday morning was recorded on Sunday, even before Syria accused Israel of attacking targets near Damascus. Israel did not confirm that his forces carried out this raid, but Israeli forces had previously repeatedly attacked Iran's related military infrastructure in Syria," recalls Reuter's agency.

On Friday there was an explosion below the deck intended to transport vehicles of the ship MV Helios Ray. Flying under the flag of the Bahamas, the unit belongs to the Tel Aviv based Ray Shipping company. Nobody in the blast did not suffer, but the ship headed for Singapore was diverted to the nearest port.

The ship's owner reported the explosion ripped the hull of the unit in two locations. The holes above the water line are about 1.5 metres in diameter. It's not quite clear what caused the explosion.
