Presidents of Poland, Bulgaria, Latvia and Romania: The Tri-Sea Initiative is increasingly attractive globally

The Tri-Sea Initiative is becoming increasingly attractive not only regionally but also globally; the threesea this is the most dynamic part of Europe – the presidents of Poland, Bulgaria, Latvia and Romania indicated on Friday. At the Tri-Sea Summit in Sofia, Bulgaria forwarded the Presidency to Latvia in an initiative.
On Thursday and Friday, the summit of the Tri-Sea Initiative was held in Sofia, attended by President Andrzej Duda, among others.
The President of Bulgaria, Rumen Radew, announced at a press conference that the presidents of the Trimorese Initiative have adopted a declaration expressing political will to work together to develop the region through better energy networks, transport, public-private partnerships and the introduction of innovative development models.
"The summit in Sofia is very clear proof that as a result of our political will, coordination and hard work, the initiative is developing dynamically. We all see tangible results. The initiative is becoming increasingly attractive not only regionally but also globally," said Radew.
"We welcome Latvia's commitment to adopt the Presidency and to be the next host of the Summit. We are convinced that our Latvian friends will be able to develop the achievements of the initiative to date" - added Radew. He also wished Latvia "a lot of energy and a strong will to deal with all the numerous challenges and tasks to see every chance and take advantage of these opportunities."
Latvia's President Egils Levits in turn said that the region is an idea – political, social and also economic. He stressed that as a political initiative of the Threesea exists for six years. "Thanks to the initiative of our Polish colleague who started this initiative," he noted.
Speaking of the priorities of the Latvian Presidency, Levits stated that he wanted the Trimorz region to attract private investment. In his opinion, the initiative should involve more society, especially young people.
President Duda pointed out that at the beginning, in 2015, the Trimorese Initiative was a "crawling" one, and today it can be said that despite the coronavirus pandemic it is in bloom. Duda stressed that the Tri-Morning Initiative was attended by the most important politicians of the United States, Germany, Japan and France.
"This shows that our partners, whose economies are great global economies, see great potential in our cooperation.... Threesea This is 120 million inhabitants of EU countries, the threesea today is a huge part of Europe's economic development and the most dynamic part of Europe's economic development" - emphasised the Polish President.
He also pointed to the "excellent", as foreseen by the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, prospects for economic growth for the coming years. "Economic growth in Trimor is forecast by these institutions between 4 and 4.8 percent and in Poland – over 5% in 2021. It must be said that these data in the context of what has happened to us in the last two years are absolutely spectacular," said Duda. "If we can cope with these predictions, we can certainly talk about the enormous development dynamics of our region," he added.
"For me, this cooperation of the Trimor is also an extremely important element in the development of the European Union," said the President, pointing out that there were those who tried to indicate that this was a project aimed at weakening or breaking up the European Union. "Nothing more wrong, on the contrary," he said.
He added that the countries involved in the initiative are receiving EU cohesion policy funds to "balance the development Europe" and create better conditions for Western investors. "So this contributes to the development of the European Union. Through our development, we are also developing the EU, building our prosperity and wealth of our societies. While implementing infrastructure development, we are also developing Europe as a whole," said Duda.
"It is hard for me to imagine a more positive example of European cooperation than what we are doing under the Tri-Sea Initiative," he said.
In turn, Romania's President Klaus Iohannis pointed out that the objective of the efforts of the Tri-Morning Initiative, both at the presidential and government levels and parliamentary and regional levels, is to implement strategic infrastructure projects in three key areas: transport, energy and digitalisation. "Our societies have high expectations. Our initiative needs to respond adequately to these expectations in the near future," he added.
"Romania is strongly committed to the initiative by taking pragmatic action. We will continue to support concrete solutions under the initiative that will contribute to the elimination of gaps and to strengthening resilience throughout the region to build the well-being of all our citizens," Iohannis assured.
The Tri-Sea Initiative brings together 12 countries: Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia and Hungary. The idea of this project is to stimulate the economic development of the countries of Central and Eastern Europe and to create a stable and coherent partnership between countries Seam Baltic, Adriatic and SeaBlack.
