Ferry to Karlskrona sailed from Gdynia port; a dangerous passenger went to hospital

On Monday morning, aboard the Stena Line ferry approaching Gdynia, one of the passengers behaved dangerously and also threatened passengers and crew.

According to police, a 30-year-old man entered one of the rooms on the ferry and threatened to detonate explosives.

"The passenger was overpowered by the crew and turned into police in Poland. The other passengers left the ferry in Gdynia without hindrance. Nobody got hurt," said PAP press spokesperson Sena Line Polska Agnieszka Zembrzycka.

The unit that arrived this morning from the cruise from Karlskrony was checked by police officers for several hours. Firemen and paramedics were also present.

After 13 p.m. ferry was prepared to sail after the prosecutor's decision. The prosecutor conducting the proceedings was present on board and allowed the ship to be loaded.

‘Services on board have been completed, the ship is safe and returned to normal running. Passenger and crew safety is a priority for Sten Line," Zembrzycka added.

The ship sailed after thorough verification and verification of possible threats of the suspect.

During the incident there were 480 people and a crew on board. In the incident, no one was hurt, and the suspect was detained by police.

On Tuesday night ferries running along the route Gdynia Karlskrona will return to normal network.
