Officer promotion on board ORP Lightning

Among the newly appointed naval lieutenants, 13 people – 5 women and 8 men – graduated from the Faculty of Navigation and Ship Armourment, and 12 people (men) from the Mechanical and Electrical Department.

Prymus received the President of Poland award in the form of an honorary white weapon (the Navy Honorary Palace). Graduates who finished their studies with II and 3rd place were awarded awards from the Minister of National Defence and Rector, respectively. At the ceremony, Gdynia Flotilla was represented by its commander – Rear Admiral Mirosław Jurkowlaniec. The promotion was appreciated by the presence of the Representation Company of MW of the Polish Republic and the Representation Orchestra of MW.
The promotion to the first officer's degree refers to the medieval knighthood tradition. This appointment act is carried out by touching the general (admiral) with a saber of the left arm kneeling on one knee of the foot. On descending from the ship's newly promoted Navy officer, he is accompanied, for the first time in his life, by a trap whistle.

Westerplatte Naval Academy is a naval college that educates future officers not only for the needs of the Navy, but also for other types of Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland. The university for candidates for professional soldiers offers studies in the fields of navigation, computer science, mechanics and mechanical engineering, mechatronics, information systems in security.
