Navantia in the fight for the Corvette program for Croatia

The Spanish shipbuilding group Navantia presented its offer to the Croatian Navy in a multipurpose corvette construction program. The proposal includes the Avante 2200/ALFA 3000 vessel and a broad industrial cooperation package with Croatian companies.

A meeting with representatives of the national industry was held on 5 March in Zagreb and aimed at presenting opportunities for local companies to participate in the implementation of this programme.

Industrial cooperation as part of the offer

According to representatives of Navantia, the broad participation of the Croatian shipbuilding industry in the implementation of the programme is a key element of the proposal. This applies to both shipyards and companies cooperating in the supply chain.

Representatives of the Spanish concern emphasize that the aim is not only to sell ships but also to create long-term technological and industrial cooperation.

This event offers the opportunity to integrate Croatian industry widely into our offer of multitasking corvette – a ship with a proven design. We want to share technology and create real opportunities for local companies to participate in the supply chain, providing the Croatian Navy with full operational readiness from the moment of entry into service.

Alfonso Valea, Commercial Director of Navantii for Europe

According to the Spanish shipbuilding company, the proposal is intended to reduce the scheduled and financial risks of the programme, which, according to Navantia, makes it one of the most competitive offers for the Croatian fleet.

Corvette Avante 2200/ALFA 3000 – a proposal for the Croatian fleet

Navantia offers Croatian Navy multitasking Corvette Avante 2200/ALFA 3000. The unit belongs to a family of ships developed by a Spanish producer and derives from a proven Avante 2200 project, whose units are already serving in the Navy of Saudi Arabia. According to representatives of the group, the construction meets the operational requirements of the Croatian fleet and was designed according to NATO standards.

The manufacturer also emphasizes the possibility of shortening the implementation time of the programme by using the existing platform. Such a solution is intended to facilitate the maintenance and operation of ships in combat readiness throughout their lifetime.

Navantii Industry Day in Zagreb

An element of the promotion of the offer was the Industry Day event organized at the headquarters of the Croatian Chamber of Commerce in Zagreb. The meeting was attended by more than 50 representatives of Croatian companies, including the most important National shipyards.

The aim of the event was to present Navantia's strategy to involve the local industry extensively in the implementation of the programme. The Spanish company declares the development of technological cooperation and the construction of a supply chain with the participation of Croatian companies.

The meeting also presented a plan for the involvement of the national industry in the construction and subsequent maintenance of future corvettes.

Letters of intent with Croatian partners

During the event, Navantia signed two letters of intent for future industrial cooperation.

The first was with the shipyard ULJANIK Brodogradnja, which could participate in the construction of ships. The second was signed with NORTES BLUE, which operates in the field of engineering and defence services.

The plan is to provide two corvettes for the Croatian Navy along with an integrated logistical support package. It includes inter alia spare parts supplies, crew training and technical personnel, training simulators and support from the Spanish Armada Española.
