PRS invites you to the FIT FOR 55 seminar

On Thursday 10 February at 10 a.m., the seminar "Fit for 55. Chances and Threats for Maritime Transport" will begin at the Maritime University Hall in Gdynia. The event will be carried out in a hybrid formula – stationary at the UM and simultaneously online. Live broadcast will be available directly on the PRS homepage – www.prs.pl.
The "Fit for 55" is a package of legislative proposals which aims to increase the climate objectives of the European Union and its Member States. The main intention of the proposed changes is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to the atmosphere by 55% by 2030, compared to 1990 levels. The European Union aims to become the first climate neutral continent in 2050. Let us also remind that the current EU directives are intended to reduce carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases emissions by 40% by 2030 (compared to 1990). The planned level of 55% increases current assumptions by 38%, and less than 8 years remain to achieve the target.
Within the framework of the seminaron 10 February we will discuss the challenges of these EU regulations for the maritime transport industry. During 3 panels, we will try to answer questions:
- Do the European Union and IMO speak with one voice?
- Are shipowners and shipyards ready for the requirements of the directives?
- What fuels can become an alternative to traditional hydrocarbon fuels in the future?
For discussion we invited representatives of shipowners, shipyards, design offices and ship equipment manufacturers.
