The increase in transshipment has also been reflected in the statistics of collapses. In 2025, a total of 4394 ships entered the port, which means an increase of 4.2 percent year-on-year. The number of merchant ships reached 3650 units, with an increase of 2.5 percent. At the same time, the average GT of merchant ships increased by 3.8%, confirming the growing use of deep-water port infrastructure.
Liquid fuels as a pillar of port operations
The largest cargo group in the cargo handling structure of the Port of Gdańsk remains liquid fuels. In 2025 their volume was 39.6 million tonnes, which means an increase of 0.4% compared to the previous year. Liquid fuels accounted for 49.3% of total port handling, remaining a key element of its operations and an important link to the national energy security system.
Oil handling by Naftoport reached 37.4 million tonnes compared to 36.6 million tonnes a year earlier, which is the best result in the history of the terminal. In 2025, Naftoport served 379 oil ships and 84 oil products ships.
Lightweight and containers as the main engine of growth
The second most important cargo group in 2025 was the mediocre. Its volume increased from 23.3 million tonnes in 2024 to 27.2 million tonnes in 2025, an increase of 16.6 percent. The share of the bulk of the transhipments amounted to 33.8%, confirming the growing importance of this group for further port development.
Particularly good results were achieved in the container segment. In 2025 almost 2.8 million TEUs were transhipped in container terminals, which is 23 percent more than a year earlier. In Baltic Hub alone, 2 766 475 TEUs were reloaded. At the same time, the bulk of the container cargo loaded increased by 18%, reaching 24 million tonnes.
Diversified results in bulk loads
In the dry bulk segment, there was a clear differentiation of results. Another year in a row coal handling decreased, which fell by 10.8% compared to 2024, reaching a level of nearly 7 million tonnes. The share of coal in the port cargo structure was 8.7 percent, which confirms its decreasing role in the national energy mix.
The situation of ore, which has increased by 12% to 326.7 thousand tonnes, has changed. An increase of 8.5% was also recorded in the category of other dry bulk loads, the volume of which reached 3.7 million tonnes.
The declines, on the other hand, concerned wood, the handling of which decreased by 56.5%, to 31.2,000 tonnes, and cereals, where the volume decreased by 14.8%, to about 2.5 million tonnes.
In 2025, the decrease was also recorded in the ro-ro segment. The number of vehicles handled decreased by 15 percent, to 118 thousand units.
Stable passenger traffic
The results in the passenger segment were positively developed. In 2025 Port of Gdańsk It served 171,4,000 passengers, which means an increase of 3.1% compared to 2024. Over the year, 266 cases were reported. ferryand 57 cruisers, which confirms a stable interest in ferry connections and tourist traffic.
Investments as a foundation for further development
The results achieved by Port Gdańsk in 2025 confirm the port's ability to adapt and build resilience to changing conditions in international maritime trade and supply chains.

The year 2025 also brought an important investment boost. The construction of the sixth liquid fuel handling station began in Naftoprot, which will be the second site adapted to operate the world's largest oil tankers of more than 300 metres in length and submerged to 15 metres. In Port Gdańsk the installation terminal for offshore wind farms, the floating gas terminal of the FSRU and the expansion of the waterfront in the Inner Port is also being constructed. In 2025, key investments were also completed, including the construction of the T3 terminal in Baltic Hub and the expansion of the Bytom Coast.
The combination of stable operational results with consistently implemented infrastructure investments strengthens the position of the Port of Gdańsk as one of the key transport hubs in the Baltic Sea region and an important element of the European transport system.
