Minister Marek Grobarczyk: we want to stop the trend of "memoling shipyards"

Minister of Maritime Affairs and IWT gave an interview to Television Trwam. Marek Grobarczyk, among others, talked about the acquisition of Gdańsk Shipyard by the Agency for Industrial Development and the consolidation of shipbuilding industry under the supervision of the Ministry of Maritime Economy.
– This is a very important day and a very big event in the light of the shipbuilding industry. We have prepared a program to consolidate the entire industry. It must be noted that the shipbuilding industry is scattered between the east and west coast. Szczecińska Shipyard plus Gryfia Repair Shipyard, located in Szczecin, and Nauta shipyard, Gdynia naval shipyard and also the current Gdańsk shipyard form a complementary solution in the reconstruction of the shipbuilding industry. This, of course, began through the gradual return of these assets to the state Treasury area. Not directly, of course. The most important task was to consolidate in one hands, and it caused a lot of trouble, for example, because the naval shipyard was in bankruptcy, it was in the hands of the syndik, so it had to be redeemed from the syndik, not to mention other assets that were in various funds," said Minister Marek Grobarczyk.

The head of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs stressed that the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, which he led, considers the development of the shipbuilding industry as a priority. He pointed out that the Ministry of Maritime Affairs is currently in the process of taking over shipbuilding assets from the Ministry of Defence.
– For us, this is the most important maritime area. We have always pointed out that the reconstruction of the maritime economy cannot take place without reconstruction of the shipbuilding industry," stressed Marek Grobarczyk.
The Minister noted that Gdańsk Shipyard has a "very important" department. It is about the assembly of flat sections, which, in the opinion of Marek Gróbarczyk, "perfect" fits into the programme of Batory and the start of investments in the construction of new units, especially ferry units, for Polish shipowners. The Minister added that Gdańsk Shipyard is now "absolutely" included in the ship industry reconstruction programme.

– This is primarily a shipyard dedicated to new large units," said the Minister of Maritime Affairs and inland waterways. As he added, the programme of Batory will be implemented on the basis of Polish consolidated shipyards under the name of the Ministry which he managed. Marek Grobarczyk noted that private shipyards would also be involved in the implementation of the programme.
Marek Grobarczyk said that the ministry is seeking to curb the "trend of muralization of the shipyard". As he pointed out, the ministry wants to preserve the industrial potential of Gdańsk Shipyard and use it in business activity.
