Raytheon with contract for the production of SM anti-aircraft missiles- 2

Raytheon Missiles & Defense, part of Raytheon Technologies, received a US$578 million contract to produce 54 missiles SM-2 Block IIIAZ for US Navy, and 215 SM-2 missiles for seven export customers.
Contract covers production SM-2 Block IIIAZ for the USA and versions SM-2 Block IIIA, and IIIB for Chile, Denmark, Japan, Korea, the Netherlands, Spain and Taiwan.
Options SM-2 Block IIIA and IIIB have an active radiolocation self-conducting system in continuous wave guidance modes (CWI), gas-dynamic control and solid fuel rocket engine. They give carriers the opportunity to fight high-speed maneuvering threats. Version Block IIIB It also has an autonomous infrared guidance mode.
SM-2 remains the main anti-aircraft defense weapon for many war fleets around the world. In the US Navy SM-2 will be used until at least 2035. SM missile range-2 is up to 90 nautical miles and a ceiling of 19.8 km. More than 2,700 successful launches of this type of projectile have been made in real conditions.
Part of missiles SM-2 Block IIIA modified for use on board type destroyers Zumwalt bears the designation Block IIIAZ. This version receives updates that enable communication with radar SPY- 3, as well as software updates that will allow you to guide with intermittent wave (ICWI) illumination. Radar SPY- 3 uses the ICWI illumination method instead of CWI used in conventional SM-2.
