Rolls-Royce will design and equip ecological trawler

British Rolls-Royce signed an agreement with Norwegian company Olympic Seafood to prepare the project and provide equipment for a 70-meter stern trawler. The concept of the ship assumes it will use green technologies.
The ship itself will be built by the Turkish shipyard Cemre. This company has contracted two such units for Olympic Seafood, the other of which can be purchased by a Norwegian company under option law.
"Smarter, Greener and Safer" is the slogan of the Norwegian company in the project of acquiring new trawlers.
– This is a modern generation of trawlers," stressed Stig Remøy, President of Olympic Seafood. – Low energy consumption and reduced emissions make this concept perfectly suited to our strategy of sustainable ocean exploitation. Rolls-Royce played a key role in development our new ship," he added.
It will be a type NVC 370 unit with reduced hull strength. The ship will meet the sharp fuel saving criteria while maintaining the required stability.
Rolls-Royce will provide diesel engine B33: 45. The hybrid drive system developed by the British company can supply both mechanical and diesel-electric integrated steering system and Promas screw. Rolls-Royce will also provide hybrid a shaft generator (HSG), which provides optimal screw and engine performance. The company will also be a supplier of on-board extractors powered by an electric motor with a permanent magnet.
The new trawler for Olympic Seafood is a unit designed for bottom and pelagic trawling. According to the agreement, the ship is to be transferred to the recipient in 2020.
