Russia launched an Ulyanovsk submarine of the Jasien-M type

Uljanovsk will be sent to the North Fleet

Sewma Shipyard announces that Uljanovsk he will pass trials into traps, naval trials and state trials, after which he will be able to be transferred to the Russian Navy. The general manager of Mikhail Budniczenko shipyard indicated December 2027 as the planned date of completion of the construction of this unit.

At this stage, however, it is the yard's declaration, not the deadline for the ship's entry into service. The schedule will depend in particular on the course of equipment and the results of tests during which defects may be detected requiring additional work.

Nine years of ship construction

Construction Ulyanowska, designated Shipbuilding Number 166, began on July 28, 2017, exactly nine years before its removal from the hall. This is the sixth unit of the 885M Jasien-M project that completed this construction phase.

The 885M Jasien-M project ships are a development of the 885 project, according to which only a prototype was built Siewierodowisk. Compared to it, they have shorter hulls by about 9 meters and changed lines, which together with new on-board systems are to reduce the noise level of the unit. They also used a greater degree of automation, which allowed to reduce the number of crews.

At the same time, the construction of successive ships of this family continues in Siewmasz. Prim he conducts naval trials, while Voronian and Vladimir remain in the early stages of work. On June 17, 2026 construction also began Murmanese, the ninth ship of the 885M project.

Calibre, Onix and Circus missiles

The Jasien-M project ships are equipped with torpedo launchers and vertical launchers rocket missiles. They can launch Kalibr family missiles designed to combat land and water targets, as well as anti-ship missiles P-800 Onix.

Units of this project are also prepared to carry 3M22 Circus hypersonic missiles. Russia did not reveal the exact configuration of the ship's weapons, however. Uljanovsk. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

The removal of the ship from the hall closed the first stage of its construction, but the most important work remains before the shipyard. Only the equipment of the unit and the full cycle of tests will show whether the yard of Siewmasz will be able to pass Ulyanowska Russian Navy at the announced time.
