This year Romania will start extracting gas from the bottom of the Black Sea

This year, natural gas will be extracted from the Romanian Black Sea shelf, announced on Monday by Romanian Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca.

The Head of Government specified in a conversation with Radio Romania station, that extraction of raw material should be expected in the second half of this year.

Ciuca explained that a document was signed in recent days to receive the investment of Black Sea Oil & Gas (BSOG). In the course of the year, up to 1 billion m3 of natural gas per year can be obtained in the Romanian waters of the Black Sea.

The Prime Minister added that from 2024 Romania will also obtain raw material from deep undersea Black Sea deposits.

He pointed out that Romania has a very strong potential for both gas and oil, and advocates further investment in this area to ensure energy independence from Russia.
