Silekol Terminal NORD in full operational readiness. New terminal opened in Szczecin Port

Less than 15 months after the start of modernization of the Andreas Terminal in Port Szczecin, Silekol Terminal NORD, belonging to the Silekol Group, began operating. It is one of the most important investments of the last months in the Szczecin–Swinoujście port team and a clear strengthening of the capacity of the transshipment of the West Pomeranian port.

The official opening of the terminal was held on May 18. The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Infrastructure, including Secretary of State Arkadiusz Marchewka, as well as representatives of local authorities, the Port Board, Maritime Office and key clients and business partners.

New maritime terminal in Szczecin Port

The Silekol Group announced investment plans in June 2024. They assumed the development and modernization of the terminal in Port Szczecin. The result of the work is a modern sea terminal, prepared for handling bulk and general goods, including cereals, fodder, fertilizers, minerals and pellets, as well as liquid goods such as methanol and other products.

Silekol Terminal NORD: waterfronts, warehouses and railway sidings

Silekol Terminal NORD was equipped with modern port infrastructure, allowing efficient handling of sea units. Modernized quay allows for safe and efficient operation transhipment.

The STN includes two waterfronts of 205 m and 130 m in length intended for vessels with a depth of 7.3 m or 6.9 m and a load capacity of up to 8000 DWT. The total capacity of the complex is 37,000 tons. It consists of a new warehouse hall with a capacity of 25,000 tonnes, storage boxes for 8000 tonnes, grain silos for 4000 tonnes and three tanks for liquid goods, each for 4000 tonnes. Total storage capacity for liquid goods is 12,000 tonnes.

One of the most important advantages of the terminal are two railway sidings, allowing simultaneous service of two trains. This solution increases the capacity of the object and shortens logistics operations time. The upgraded railway infrastructure allows safe forCargo CommonCargo, and internal roads and storage areas ensure efficient handling of road transport.

The terminal offers a comprehensive organization of sea, rail and car transport.

Greater capacity for industry and agriculture

The new warehouse-operation hall, separate storage boxes and specialised tanks meet applicable technical and environmental standards. This allows the terminal to safely store various goods and manage the storage space flexibly.

According to preliminary assumptions, the terminal tripled its handling capacity for bulk materials such as feed, grain or grain. This is important information not only for logistics operators, but also for local farmers and West Pomeranian companies.

The modernization also included component squares, roads and the extension of the railway siding. The investment worth PLN 120 million allows the handling of up to 1 million tonnes of goods per year and increases the storage capacity of cereals by 40%.

Strengthening the Port of Szczecin–Swinoujście

Modernization of the Andreas Terminal and the launch of the Silekol Terminal NORD is not only a profit for the port itself. It is also an impulse for the local economy, industry, agriculture and companies operating in the supply chain.

The investment has not only led to the expansion and modernization of the Andreas Terminal, but will also bring tangible benefits to the Port of Szczecin-Swinoujście, allowing the operation of more ships, which will translate into higher revenues. It is one of the most modern and best equipped terminals of this type in Europe. We are counting on fruitful cooperation with Silekol Terminal NORD and further development of our region.

The opening of Silekol Terminal NORD shows that Port Szczecin consistently strengthens its position in maritime logistics. New warehouses, tanks, railway sidings and component squares form the facilities that will work for both industry and agriculture.
