Maritime forces in a socio-cultural context [Part 9]

Currently, the primary problem of the Polish SM, and especially the Polish MW, is not the lack of new ships, but the lack of broad maritime awareness. Therefore, the need for a fleet and creative use of resources that we have, as well as those that we plan to acquire, is not properly covered.

In maritime countries Polish Navy It does not exist for itself, its right being does not come down to waiting for possible use in the state of highest necessity. On the contrary, it should take continuous and active action on a daily basis in the light of ongoing challenges. It is intended to anticipate crisis situations, eliminate them in the embryo, prevent them, remove threats from the borders of the state, and ensure that the world is in an orderly state, enabling all forms of human activity at sea to function in a way that is least disrupted by undesirable factors.

The guiding thought that determines the right existence of our fleet is still incorrectly formulated on the basis of the belief that its main tasks focus solely on preparing for war at sea. The result of this perception is the idea of limiting the role of the MW to actions in defence of the Polish coast in the event of military threat and closure of its operations in the Baltic and its immediate neighbourhood. The ideas of "the Republic of the Sea", formulated and successively implemented by Minister Eugeniusz Kwiatkowski, were adopted as one of the main strategies for building a broadly understood civilizational modernization of the country and for combining divided partitions of society. The achievements that have been achieved in this field have proved to be extremely important. The atmosphere created around the Navy then led to it being included in a set of elements building national pride. Similarly, the newly built Gdynia, other ports, merchant ships and elements of the naval ethos were seen. Currently, despite favourable conditions both international and internal, Poland does not fully exploit
