Evacuation of the sick from the offshore power station

On-call crew of the W-3WARM rescue helicopter from the Naval Aviation Brigade (BLMW) carried out another SAR action in the Baltic on 11 May. Medical assistance was required by a man on a marine power station located approximately 30 km northeast of Łeba.

Information on the need for medical evacuation reached the W-3WARM on-call crew at the 44th Naval Air Base Airport in Darłów on 11 May before 11 a.m. Activities of the Centre for Maritime Operations – Marine Component Command were coordinated by the Emergency Operations Division.

The chopper was picked up at 11.05. After 65 minutes, a sick man was taken on board and transported to land under the care of a lifeguard. At 12.40 p.m., he was handed over to a medical rescue team at the hospital's helipad in Polish. The crew then returned to the home airport in Darłów, where they restored their readiness to continue on duty.

It was 11. rescue action conducted this year by the BLMW crew on the Baltic. In the history of the Naval Air Brigade, 837 such actions have already been recorded and 456 people have been assisted by crews of aircraft and marine helicopters.

The BLMW remains the only aviation formation in Poland that keeps constant readiness to carry out rescue operations from the air over sea areas. All-day SAR/ASAR duty in the Polish responsibility zone is full of W-3WARM helicopter crew. The system is also supported by the M28B 1R patrol aircraft crew on duty at the airport in Siemirowice near Lęborka.
