Polenergia and Equinoru with the conditions for the attachment of the Central Baltic Sea farm II

At the request of the IMF company Baltic II sp. z o. o., Polish Electric Energy Networks issued conditions of connection for the project of the offshore wind farm Central Baltic II, assuming the possibility of connecting wind turbines with a total capacity of 240 MW, writes the portal gramwzione.pl.

The conditions of connection are determined, among others, by investments on the side of the IMF Baltic II sp. z o. o. and PSE, which will be necessary to ensure the connection and removal of power from the planned offshore wind farm, as well as the necessary scope of the arrangements for these investments with the President of the Energy Regulatory Office.

Polenergia adds that receiving the conditions of connection for the offshore wind farm Central Baltic II means the possibility of increasing the total power of offshore wind farms developed by IMF Baltic II sp. z o. o. and IMF Baltic III sp. z o. o., from 1200 MW to 1440 MW.

Polenergia as the first and only entity in Poland already has two valid environmental decisions for the IMF Baltic II Sp. z o.o. and the IMF Baltic III Sp. z o.o. and a signed connection agreement, which allows to carry out work on technical projects of two offshore wind farms with a planned total capacity of up to 1200 MW.

Marine wind farms Baltic II and Baltic III will be located at the height of the municipality of Smoldzino and the municipality of Łeba in Pomerania. Both projects are to be implemented at a distance of 27-40 km from the port of Łeba, at depths of 20-40 metres.

In this case, since the beginning of last year there has been a wind measurement campaign conducted using the LIDAR system and preliminary geological surveys of the seabed. Work is also underway to obtain an environmental decision on offshore transmission infrastructure.

According to the new work schedule, the first supply of electricity from offshore wind farms of Polenergia is expected to occur by 2025.

The company stresses that the date of construction of offshore wind farms depends on the entry into force of the relevant regulatory system, whose assumptions the Ministry of Energy should present this year.

Last month, Polenergia signed a preliminary agreement to divest 50% of its shares in the subsidiary Polenergia Baltic I, implementing the construction of a offshore wind farm with a capacity of up to 1560 MW, the Norwegian fuel company Equinor (ex-Statoil).

This is a continuation of cooperation with the Norwegian company. Earlier last year, the largest Polish private energy group signed an agreement with Equinonr allowing joint implementation of projects of offshore wind farms in the Baltic with a planned capacity of 1200 MW, as part of projects belonging to the companies Polenergia Baltic II and Polenergia Baltic III.
