Augustov’s ships sailed to the lakes

The Augustov shipping began this year's tourist season on Saturday. The first ship sailed to Rospuda Lake, and the second to the well-known lake, said the director of the Ż.A. Adam Aleksandrowicz.

Director Aleksandrowicz said that despite the pandemic, as every year shipping begins the season on a long May weekend. "Passengers are, and we must ensure their sanitary safety in the current situation," added Aleksandrowicz.

Currently, carriers do not have pandemic restrictions imposed, but the J.A. will take 50 percent of its passengers to its ships to maintain an adequate distance between people.

Augustov's sailing is carried out by four ships on regular and special orders. The largest unit "Svoboda" can take 330 people, "Serves" and "Sajno" on board – 200 people each. The new ship "Bystra", which was built in 2019, houses 250 passengers. The constant attraction is the cruises "Pope Trail" and "To the Rospuda Valley".

The complex of lakes and August rivers, along with the Augustov Canal built in the 19th century with several mucus, is considered one of the most attractive tourist destinations in Poland, alongside the Great Mazury Lakes. Popularity voyageThe importance of these Augustine Shipping ships has increased since June 1999, when Pope John Paul II was sailing on the ship "Servy", resting at the monastery in Wigra during the pilgrimage to Poland.
