During the meeting, the main financial data of the company and the effects of activities carried out in the last two years were presented. Szczecińska Shipyard "Wulkan" ended 2025 with a net profit of PLN 36 million. This is an important change to the situation two years ago when the company faced a deep loss, unprofitable contracts and problems related to the financing of a floating dock.

The results of the yard were addressed by the Secretary of State in the Ministry of Infrastructure Arkadiusz Marchewka. As he wrote in his Facebook post, at the time of taking responsibility for the maritime economy the situation of the SSN "Wulkan" was "worst".

The accumulated loss for 2023 amounted to PLN 130 million, the contracts concluded were unprofitable, and the cash register in which the money for the construction of the dock was to be located proved empty – wrote Arkadiusz Marchewka.

According to the Secretary of State approved by the auditor, the financial statements confirmed the change in the situation of the company.

The auditor just approved the financial statements and net profit of the yard last year amounted to PLN 36 million. So in two years we came out of a gigantic loss for a solid plus-- stressed Marchewka.

PLN 240 million for investments in SSN "Wulkan"

One of the most important elements of the restoration of the plant's potential is the investment programme. The government allocated PLN 240 million to new investments in the shipyard. The measures are aimed, among others, at completing the construction of a modern floating dock and increasing the production capacity of the plant.

With this money we build a modern dock, whose two sections are already connected on the water. We are also increasing the capacity of the shipyard – indicated Arkadiusz Marchewka.

The plans also include new production halls and advanced sheet metal cutting machines. These are investments designed to strengthen the production facilities of SSN "Volcano" and increase its capacity to implement subsequent projects.

Additionally, at an advanced stage is the construction of a ship for the Maritime Office, which will be used to place navigational markings. Importantly, this is the first ship built »turnkey« after nearly eighteen years of break – wrote the Secretary of State.

During the briefing, Radosław Kowalczyk, president of Szczecin Shipyard "Wulkan", spoke and stressed the importance of the whole team's work to rebuild the plant.

The important thing is that people are behind such a good result. I thank the employees of the Shipyard for their daily commitment, responsibility and faith in this place. We have achieved this success through the work of the entire team. Our company has also obtained a special production licence, which opens the way to new orders for the defence sector. In parallel, we are stepping up cooperation with the G4 group, a group of four companies producing components for offshore wind turbines. That's how we strengthen presence. Polish companies in the offshore supply chain on the Baltic.

Szczecińska Shipyard is alive again

From the perspective of the maritime economy of Western Pomerania, the result of the SSN "Wulkan" is an important signal for the market. The company improves its financial performance, invests in infrastructure and rebuilds the ability to realise Shipbuilding projects.

Arkadiusz Marchewka concluded with the words: "Szczecińska Shipyard is alive again”.
