Communication system for Hunter frigates after project review

Rohde & Schwarz Australia and BAE Systems Maritime Australia completed a review of the design of the initial integrated communication system for future Hunter-type frigates. The solution will be delivered to the first three ships built for the Australian Marine Force.

Rohde & Schwarz Australia works together with BAE Systems Maritime Australia, chief contractor of Hunter-type frigate program. The integrated digital communication system will include a set of solutions for internal and external communication, including NAVICS.
NAVICS for the first three frigates
NAVICS will be the main element of the communication system Hunter frigate. It is intended to provide the crew with integrated and reliable communications as well as the possibility of processing classified information of different classifications.
According to Rohde & Schwarz Australia, the documentation prepared for the review was positively assessed by BAE Systems Maritime Australia and representatives of the Australian authorities. The arrangements also took the direction of further design work and the integration of the system with ship equipment.
Before reviewing the critical project
Another important step will be the review of the critical project, which will precede further work on preparing the system for production and installation on ships.
Rohde & Schwarz Australia has already doubled the number of employees involved in designing and preparing the production of an integrated communications system. The company announces further expansion of the team along with the progress of the program for future Australian frigates.
