Duda talks with Trump: Defence, Energy, Trade and Telecommunications Security

Wednesday evening, the White House officially confirmed the news of President Andrzej Duda's visit to Donald Trump planned for June 24.

During the night press briefing in front of the bakery "Klementinka" in the Warsaw Marks, Andrzej Duda spoke about the details of this visit. He said that one of the issues discussed would be the fight against coronavirus epidemic. "I also talked to the President about the cooperation of Polish and American scientists in working on the vaccine against coronavirus. In this case, I will also want to talk to the President," Duda announced.

He added that Donald Trump in his invitation included the basic topics he wanted to discuss. These are: defence, energy, trade, telecommunications security. "From my point of view, it is primarily defence, and therefore the question of military cooperation, especially in the context of what the President has recently announced. That's one thing. The second, of course, Trimor – very important because it is a matter of our development and investment" - explained the President.

"Every topic here matters. Energy is also huge, because we cooperate in gas, we bring gas from the United States, we want to have another gas port, we also want to develop this cooperation further" - said Duda.

"If we can complete the gas-port expansion investment in Świnoujście, if we can build another gas-port in Gdańsk and finish construction of Baltic Pipe, we will indeed have a situation where gas from the US can be distributed by our networks to our neighbours, that is, to the countries with which we are cooperating in the Trimorz or Ukraine," he explained.

The president said a written invitation came from the United States on Wednesday.
