Container terminal DCT Gdańsk with record container handling

206 645 TEU was transhipped in March in DCT Gdańsk, the largest container terminal in the Baltic Sea. That's a record number.

Gdański terminal DCT (Deepwater Container Terminal) overloaded a record number of 206,645 containers in March. This is 9% more than in January 2020, when the previous record in the number of transhipments fell.

As stressed by representatives of the DCT, this achievement is important, especially in the light of the difficult pandemic situation, the continuing challenges in the global logistics industry and the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

Despite the difficult market situation, in 2021 the DCT overcharged a record number of over 2 092 432 containers.

"This year, DCT Gdańsk celebrates its 15th anniversary. For 15 years we have been striving to build a real Baltic hub and transport gateway for Poland, Central and Eastern Europe and Baltic countries. Reloading more than 200,000 TEU in March, we achieved a milestone in container handling in Poland" - emphasised DCT Managing Director Gdańsk Charles Baker.

DCT Gdańsk is the largest Polish container terminal in the Baltic Sea, located in the Port of Gdańsk. The DCT was the first terminal to which ships from Asia to the Baltic Sea directly flew. It is currently the destination destination of the largest container ships in the world coming from China, Korea and other Asian countries.

This year the construction of the new Baltic Hub3 terminal in Port Gdańsk will begin. Once completed, the DCT Gdańsk terminal will become one of the largest container terminals in Europe.

Thanks to the construction of the new terminal, a third will be created in the port quay deep water, thereby increasing DCT handling capacity to 4.5 million containers per year.
