Rolls-Royce will design the largest fishing trawler in its history

The British concern will prepare the project of the largest fishing vessel in its history. The trawler will be 100 metres long. It was ordered by the American company Arctic Storm Management Group.

The preparation of the Rolls-Royce project was commissioned by the American shipyard Thoma-Sea Marine Constructors of Louisiana, which in turn received an order to build a ship from the Arctic Storm Management Group based in Seattle.

The largest fishing trawler means the biggest money from such orders. On a deal with the American contractor Rolls-Royce will earn over £15 million. It will also be the first fishing trawler project prepared by the British concern to be used to build a unit in the US.

On the Rolls-Royce project, he works closely with the future owner of a record trawler. On board the ship will be a filet processing plant, surimi, fish meal and fish oil. The British company reported that the crew of a 100-foot ship would consist of 150 people.

– This will be the largest and most advanced fishing vessel ever built in the US. The fact that both the design and the delivery and integration of a comprehensive equipment package will be responsible to Rolls-Royce is crucial for us," said Doug Christensen, CEO of Arctic Storm Management Group.

100 m long and 21 m wide – these are impressive sizes of the new trawler. Rolls-Royce stated in his announcement that the ship would be based on a trawler project that is included in the British company's offer. It's the NVC 336 WP. It is a unit designed for pelagic fishing of mintaj and cod in the waters of the North Pacific, but its catalogue length is 80 m.

– Artcic Storm Management Group is our longtime customer in our products and services. We are pleased that the company has selected a complete Rolls-Royce design and an integrated package of system solutions and equipment for the new ship. Arctic Storm's many years of experience in this type of fishing represents a great added value to the ship's design. Together we create not only a fishing vessel, but also a fully equipped floating fish processing plant," said Knut Eilert Røsvik of Rolls-Royce – Marine, SVP Ship Design & Systems.
