Successful rescue action of BLMW from Gdynia

On July 31, the SAR duty crew of the 43rd Naval Aviation Base in Gdynia (BLMW) conducted an effective rescue operation, confirming its readiness and professionalism in saving life at sea.

At 10:05 p.m., as a result of receiving information about the injured person on board the Stena Spirit ferry, the crew took off by helicopter W-3WARM. Upon reaching the scene, the injured person was efficiently taken on board the machine. Upon reaching the scene the victim was successfully boarded the machine and was transferred to a medical team at Babich Dołach Airport in Gdynia at 11:03 p.m.

It was 794. search and rescue action in BLMW history and 16th this year. In total, during their activities, the SAR crew from BLMW helped 425 people. Navy Air Force is the only aviation formation in Poland, which keeps constant readiness to conduct rescue operations from the air over the marine areas.

All-day SAR/ASAR duty, within the Polish responsibility zone, resulting from the "Convention on the Search and Rescue of the Sea" and "Convention on International Civil Aviation", is performed by W-3WARM helicopter crews stationed in 43. Base of Maritime Aviation in Gdynia-Baby Dołach and 44th Base of Maritime Aviation in Darłów. Additionally, the rescue system supports the crew of the M28B 1R Bryza patrol aircraft, which is on 24-hour duty at Siemirowice Airport near Lęborka.
