Ukraine and Denmark signed an agreement on the construction of MPV80 patrol units

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine and the Ministry of Defence of Denmark concerning cooperation in the development and strengthening of the maritime potential of Ukraine, including the construction and delivery of patrol units, was signed on 18 December. The signing of the agreement took place during the official visit of the Danish Defence Minister Ms Trine Bramsen to Ukraine. Deputy Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine signed his signature on the Ukrainian side.

One of the main provisions of the agreement is the design of multitasking vessels. Production will be fully located in Ukraine, and more than 50% of orders will be carried out by Ukrainian companies. Future Ukrainian-Danish units will be built in a facility in Ukraine, using best practices in designing Danish partners as well as modern equipment. The project will be implemented with the support of the Danish Government and the Danish Export Credit Agency (EKF). Ships will be designed by Danish companies according to customer requirements.

According to press reports, the subject of cooperation is to be a multi-tasking patrol unit MPV80. Construction of first MPV80 It is planned until 2024. It will be able to perform dozens of functions (according to Ukrainians as many as 128), including conducting search and rescue operations. The unit will be equipped with technologically advanced types of specialist equipment from Danish manufacturers. Their construction is to be part of a program to rebuild the potential of building ships in Ukrainian shipyards.

MPV80 is 84 m long, 17.6 m wide, dive 4.5 m, displacement of 3600 tons, range of 13,000 nautical miles, crew of 35 people, 30 additional seats, speed of 17 knots and ability to swim in an ice sheet of 0.8 -1m thick. at 3 knots.
