US Coast Guard enlisted two consecutive National Security Cutter

On 24 August in Honolulu, Hawaii, another coastguard "couch" was introduced into service. NSC ships, despite this common name, are in fact patrol frigates with a displacement of 4,500 tonnes.

During the Saturday ceremony, USCG ships included USCGC Kimball (WMSL-756) and USCGC Midgett (WMSL-757), or 7th and 8th series units. These ships are to be the largest "warry" USCG units and are formed in 11 units at Ingalls Shipbuilding shipyard. Their unit cost is around USD 700 million. Since their design is typical of frigates, their design was one of the options considered when deciding the program of building new ships of this class for the US Navy known as FFG(X).

New ships have a displacement of 4,500 tons, a length of 127 m, a width of 16 m., dive 6.9 m, drive in the CODG system (2 diesel engines MTU 20V 1163 at 7400 kW each plus a 22,000 kW LM2500 gas turbine), speed 28 knots, range 12,000 nautical miles, autonomy 60 days, crew of 113 people, and armament in the form of a 57 mm Mk110 type caliber cannon, the Phalanx Mod 1B Baseline 2, 4 km of a 12.7 mm caliber, 2 km of a 7.62 M240B caliber MH-65C Dolphin MCH deck helicopter.

USCG units are a natural "equipment and personnel reserve" of the U.S. Navy, which is why their design is adapted to their rapid reinforcement.
