Cooperation as a lever for maritime development

Thinking about the future and development of the entire maritime industry in Pomerania, The Pomeranian Special Economic Zone and the Polish Maritime Technology Forum signed a cooperation agreement on 6 November 2019, which is the basis for integrated actions supporting the potential of companies and people operating in the Pomeranian economy sector.
The agreement was signed with the participation of the Rector of Education and Didactics Dr. Marek Dzida, Professor of Gdańsk University of Technology, and in the presence of companies operating in the Zone and invited guests. The agreement was signed by the President of the Management Board Jerzy Czuchman, President of Przemysław Sztander and Vice President Paweł Lulewicz from the Pomeranian Special Economic Zone. By signing a cooperation agreement, both the Zone and the Forum aim to engage actively in promoting the competences of the future in the maritime industry.
The ceremony was also attended by: the Dean of the Mechanical Department of Gdańsk University of Technology Dr. hab. inż. Paweł Śliwiński and Dean of Education Department of Oceanotechnology and Shipbuilding at Gdańsk University of Technology – Dr. Mohammad Hossein Ghaemi.
The PSEZ cooperates with a number of maritime companies, and the agreement on cooperation with the Polish Maritime Technology Forum is one of the many initiatives undertaken to develop the maritime economy in our region.
The signed agreement stresses in particular the role of:
- promoting the importance of future competences for the development of maritime technologies,
- promoting proactive approaches to the development of competences, including the marine environment,
- providing an advisory vote on the competences required for the development of marine technologies;
- integrating and activating stakeholders in marine technologies in the field of future competences,
- support and dissemination of future competences activities for maritime technologies.
„I am very pleased with this agreement. I hope it will benefit students, the Gdańsk University of Technology and the entire maritime industry. The first such project, which we will implement under this agreement, is a program for the training of graduates and workers of maritime companies from the programming of industrial robots, also used in the maritime industry. This year we opened the Industrial Robot Programming Center using real industrial robots without which the industry will not be able to develop. We need to automate and roboticize production processes"- stressed President Stefy Przemysław Sztander.
