According to the data provided there, on Friday early afternoon in all – in total there are about 60 – coastal bathing areas guarded this summer in the Pomeranian Voivodeship, the water is free of cynics and can be safely used.
The flower of the Shinic has already for several days prevented the use of water in a swimming pool located above the lake.
In the summer, the high temperature makes the Baltic and lake blooms often appear. Their aggregates move constantly on the surface of water carried by wind or water currents. When they arrive near the beaches, the baths are temporarily closed. The red flag is decided to be displayed at a given location, in agreement with the employees of the individual health stations, by rescuers who keep an eye on the water.
The health department recalls that in the case of a plentiful flower of cynics, an absolute ban on entering water is recommended. Bathing in contaminated water can cause adverse reactions: from skin rash to conjunctival redness. Gastrointestinal disorders including diarrhoea, vomiting and abdominal pain may occur if such water is swallowed.
