Increase of transhipment in the first half of 2020 in the ports of Szczecin and Świnoujście

If the economic situation continues, despite the crisis in the transport market, the handling of cereals, fuels, including LNG, and containers in the Port of Szczecin-Swinoujście can reach very high levels this year.
This is demonstrated by the summary of the first half of 2020. Compared to the same period last year, the most increased byCargo grain. It was overloaded by almost 100 % more.
A great result was also recorded in fuel handling, which increased by 17.2% .
The LNG liquefied gas terminal works with great success. TransCargo LNG increased by 34,3 % and amounted to 1614 million Nm3. At the beginning of July, a hundredth gas tanker entered the Świnoujście. Deliveries from the USA, Qatar and Norway provide energy security to Poland.
Despite the downward trend worldwide, nearly 20% of containers have arrived.
The decrease was mainly recorded in ore and carbon transhipments, by 46,5 % and 29 % respectively.
Despite the difficult epidemiological situation and the world's chaos, the continuity of the supply of goods has not been compromised and all major investments in both ports are going smoothly.
The Ferry Terminal in Świnoujście is being expanded and adapted to support intermodal transport. In Szczecin and Świnoujście, the largest construction works in history, which improve rail access to ports, continue without difficulties.
The Świnoujście – Szczecin water track is deepened to a depth of 12.5 metres, which will allow for the wrapping of larger units in the Szczecin port.
Together with our partners, we have consistently implemented a gigantic investment programme of more than EUR 1.5 billion to improve the supply of ports and, consequently, to obtain additional contractors and cargoes.
In the first half of 2020, the world faced the effects of the pandemic, which had a rather sudden impact on both social and economic life. Security procedures introduced by ZMPSIŚ SA prevented the risk of virus occurrence among workers and incoming crews.
The company, acting as corporate social responsibility, became involved in supporting medical services in the fight against the corona virus and donated two donations. Aid from the port, in the amount of PLN million, went to three hospitals – two in Szczecin: infectious at Arkonska Street and PSK 1 at Lubelska Union Street and the Koskolinski Provincial Hospital at Titus Chałubiński Street. The equipment needed for these units, i.e. ventilators, cardiomonitors, infusion pumps and ambulances, was purchased for the funds transferred. In turn, the second donation was intended for the purchase of apparatus for early diagnosis of the virus crown.
